Media Release: Gomberg Sorry to Miss Tonight’s Mayoralty Forum

Sept. 26, 1998.

Gomberg Sorry To Miss Tonight’s Mayoralty Forum.

Mayoralty Candidate Tooker Gomberg will not be attending tonight’s mayoralty forum due to it taking place during Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the Jewish year. Out of respect to the Jewish community, and his own heritage, Gomberg will instead attend synagogue.

“I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to citizens who may have wanted to ask me questions. There are twelve more forums scheduled, and I hope that interested Edmontonians can come out to one of the other scheduled events.”

When Gomberg realized the conflict he contacted David Edey, the Returning Officer with a request that the forum be re-scheduled. Mr. Edey replied that it was not possible to reschedule the forum.

If people want to contact candidate Gomberg directly he can be reached by telephone, at 439-8744 or by email at tooker at web.net (address is defunct). Details regarding the other scheduled forums are listed on the Gomberg For Mayor web page at www.GombergForMayor.org.

Gomberg will provide a speech on audio tape to be played at tonight’s City sponsored Mayoralty Forum.
