Gomberg To Use A Wheelchair To Get Around Town.
Today, on Tuesday, Oct. 6 1998 at 11 a.m. mayoralty candidate Tooker Gomberg will begin a two hour tour of the city in a wheelchair. The tour will begin in Churchill Square just opposite from City Hall.
“While on City Council I heard many complaints about poor transportation services, lack of curb cuts, and barriers to people with limited mobility. I hope to learn first hand what the problems are, and to find solutions” says Gomberg. “As the population ages the city should accelerate programs to improve access to services for people who are physically or mentally challenged.”
Gomberg will be accompanied by scooter-user Kim Lazaruk, longtime advocate for improvements for mobility challenged people.
