Toronto – (October 21, 2000)
At 11 am today, Saturday Oct. 21, 2000, members of the Gomberg for Mayor team will climb the tallest freestanding building in the world.
“We’re going for the top of the tower. And we’re going for the top job — the Mayor’s chair.
“When we started this campaign 6 weeks ago, we were at the bottom of the CN tower. Now we’re half way up, half way to the Mayor’s chair. In three weeks, we want to be at the top of the tower, overlooking Toronto, and with a view to leading our city into the new millenium.”
“The Adams Mine debacle launched us into the stairwell, and defeating it yesterday sent us jogging upwards with renewed enthusiasm.”
“Smog, tenant protection, housing — these are the issues that will take us to the top, to the big chair that oversees the city. Enough about moose. Let’s talk and debate the real issues.”
“With the Adams Mine victory, we’ve done the impossible, and we’re keen to do it again. With just 23 days to E-day, we have some climbing to do!” Gomberg concluded.
