News Release: Gomberg to Join Picket of Pro Adams Mine Candidates

Toronto – (October 20, 2000)

Tooker Gomberg, candidate for Mayor of Toronto, today will join in the first of a series of information pickets directed at candidates for Toronto City Council who voted in favour of sending Toronto’s garbage north to the Adams Mine.

Gomberg will join the picket line from 10:00am till 11:00am, and had this to say about the Adams Mine option: “I have spoken with thousands of Torontonians about Mr. Lastman’s nutty garbage plan. Nooo-body likes it — I have not met a single person who is enthusiastic about the Adams Mine option. Except, of course, for Mr. Lastman, Mr. Davis, a majority of council, and the proponent Mr. McGuinty.”

The Adams Mine Accountability Network, a network of Torontonians opposed to the Adams Mine decision, will be holding a series of information pickets of candidates who favour the Adams Mine decision to ship garbage north.

The first information picket will take place on Friday, October 20th at 10:00am at the Rob Davis Campaign Office 601 St.Clair West (south side at Wychwood, west of Bathurst).
