Students Speak Out — With or Without Mr. Lastman

At 3:00 p.m. at 100 St. George Street, in front of Sidney Smith Hall, Tooker Gomberg will invite students to get on the soapbox and share their perspectives on the city. Gomberg will engage in public dialogue on issues pertinent to students. He will release his platform plank on Youth Issues at this time. “Students are the leaders of the future; their political participation is vital to a healthy, thriving democracy.”

At 7 p.m. at OISE Auditorium (252 Bloor W.) 5 student groups will host a public mayoralty debate.

“I’m excited and honored to present my views before the student body and to face their comments. I have got nothing to hide. It is unfortunate that Mr. Lastman has scorned the invitation, and lacks the courage to engage in dialogue and debate. During elections we get to vote, and to debate. Ignoring the people’s desire is arrogant. If Mr. Lastman doesn’t trust the students, then how can he expect the voters to trust him?” asks Gomberg.
