Following today’s (Wednesday’s) rally for justice in the oilpatch a winter protest camp has been established at RCMP K Division Headquarters at 109 St. and Kingsway Avenue.

Don Friske, environmental activist, established the winter camp by building a quinze (similar to an igloo) out of snow in front of the RCMP Headquarters.

“We have established this camp to protest the environmental pollution caused by the oil and gas industry,” said Friske. “We intend to stay here until the provincial government commits to a public inquiry into the cumulative effects of toxic pollution caused by the oil and gas industry. Or until our quinze melts.”
